Released firstly running MIUI 7 based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro (kenzo) is still the most popular variant of Xiaomi phones although its newer brother, Redmi Note 4, has been released. Its phenomenal Qualcomm snapdragon chipset is one of its comprehensive features making the phone best of all the best compared to those available at the same price tag. Just like many other Xiaomi phones, the device has also received MIUI 8 major update. Featuring a bunch of new awesomeness and key features, the MIUI 8 makes all of Kenzo users desperate to try. Unfortunately, some users in some countries found out that the 4G options disappear after the upgrade process.
That not without any intention. Some countries have strict rules for imported phones to enter their region. Just take Indonesia as an example. The country forces any 4G phones to follow certain rules to officially permitted entering the country. Hence, Redmi Note 3 Pro has entered the country officially with 4G disabled.
However and luckily, there is a workaround to reactivate 4G network and to bring back 4G LTE settings of Redmi Note 3 Snapdragon. This involves flashing 4G fixer tweak into the phone that requires custom recovery. Installing custom recovery means to have the bootloader unlocked. Therefore, unlocked bootloader (UBL) is a must.
Requirements
- Redmi Note 3 Snapdragon device (Kenzo)
- Unlocked bootloader (Official Unlock Page)
- Download and install TWRP Recovery ZCX Build.
- Download Fix 4G Tweak package – but do not extract it.
How to Re-enable 4G Network Options
Step 1 – Copy the “Fix 4G tweak” package into internal storage of your phone.
Step 2 – Reboot your phone into TWRP recovery by either via Updater or via combination buttons (press Power and Volume Up buttons simultaneously while the phone is off).
Step 3 – Do not forget to firstly create backup of current ROM. This is not a must but it is a good practice for just-in-case scenario. There is the “Backup” option in TWRP menu.
Step 4 – Go back to main menu of TWRP and choose “Install“.
Step 5 – Locate the Fix 4G .zip file you have copied earlier.
Step 6 – Do the popular “Swipe to install” action in TWRP to start flashing the 4G patch.
Step 7 – Once flashed, wipe the Cache and Dalvik Cache.
Step 8 – Finally, reboot your phone into normal mode.
Congratulation, you shall now see the 4G network displayed in the preferred network types.
That is the way how you can enable 4G options in Redmi Note 3 Kenzo even you have updated it to MIUI 8 Global Stable. Do not forget to share the trick with your fellow users of Kenzo. We really hope this tutorial can really help you.
