Many Xiaomi, Samsung, HTC, and any other smartphones users are satisfied of using TWRP v3 replacing their stock recoveries.

In case of Mi A1, Xiaomi’s first Android One device, the Team Win developer team has released the version 3.1.1-0 of TWRP. Simply click on the download link below. Upon clicking the button you will be redirected to TWRP official page. Please download from their website to always get latest version of the software and to support the developer.

How to install? Flashing TWRP is always easy. Nevertheless, you have to firstly unlock your Mi A1 bootloader. Next, you may also need to install Minimal ADB & Fastboot driver software on your computer so that it can recognize your device.

Next, turn off your phone and reboot into fastboot mode by pressing Volume down (-) and Power buttons simultaneously until the fastboot logo appears. Once done, now connect your phone to computer using its USB data cable. Rename the downloaded twrp .img file into recovery.img, and then issue following commands in Windows PowerShell on command prompt window:

fastboot boot recovery.img
flash twp-installer.zip

Finaslly, reboot to recovery and check if twrp is there. Otherwise, if not (100% chances), issue these command below – but reboot your phone into fastboot mode again:

fastboot set_active b
fastboot boot twp.img
flash twp-installer.zip

That’s it. Now try rebooting again into recovery mode by pressing Volume Up (+) and Power button simultaneously.

Since Mi A1 is a newly released phone, I found no leaked stock recovery yet. Please be patient and we will post new update once the stock recovery becomes available. Meanwhile, you can update your phone through Fastboot ROM.
